Messages from the book of Acts chapter two. March 23, 2012
1. What is the day of Pentecost? 2:1
2. What did Jesus’ believers do when the day of Pentecost came? 2:1
They were all together in one place! What did they do when they were together?
3. What happened on this day’s gathering? 2:2
Suddenly there came from heaven a sound as of the rushing of a mighty wind,
and it filled all the house where they were sitting.
4. What appeared to them? 2:3
Tongues parting asunder, like as of fire; and it sat upon each one of them.
5. What happened? 2:4
They were all filled with the Holy Spirit, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.
6. What kind of people were in Jerusalem at this time? 2:5
Jews, devout men, from every nation under heaven.
7. What kind of tongues did they speak? 2:6
Every man heard them speaking in his own language.
8. What amazed these people from every nation under heaven? 2:7
All these Galileans spoke in their native language. Why do you think this was possible?
9. Where were all those Jews came from? 2:9-11
10. What did they do with their abilities to speak other people’s native language? 2:11
We hear them speaking in our tongues the mighty works of God.
11. How did some reacted to this event? 2:12
Amazed and perplexed.
12. How did some others reacted? 2:13
Mocking: They are filled with new wine.
13. Who lifted up his voice and spoke to them? 2:14 Peter
14. What was Peter request from them? 2:14 Give ear unto my words.
15. This is 9 a.m. in the morning these cannot be drunk! 2:15
16. This is a fulfillment of which spoken through Prophet Joel! 2:16
17. This is a display of the power of the baptism of the Holy Spirit! 2:17-20 Joel 2:28-31.
18. Salvation of the Lord has come upon you! 2:21
Whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved. Joel 2:32
This was how Peter witness for Jesus! Acts 2:22-36
1. Jesus of Nazareth, a man approved of God unto you by mighty words and wonders and signs which
God did by him in the midst of you, even as you yourselves know. 2:22
2. Jesus, being delivered up by the determinate counsel and foreknowledge of God,
you by the hand of lawless men did crucify and slay. 2:23
3. Whom God raised up, having loosed the pangs of death;
because it was not possible that he should be hold of it. 2:24
4. King David said about this! 2:25-31
5. This Jesus did God raise up, whereof we all are witnesses. 2:32
These were what really happened today! Acts 2:33-35
Jesus being at the right hand side of God, he poured forth the Father’s promise of the Holy Spirit which you see and hear!
This was how Peter concluded his sermon-->
Acts 2:36 Let all the house of Israel therefore know assuredly,
that God has made him both Lord and Christ, this Jesus whom you crucified.
This was the hearers reaction!
1. What were their reaction? 2:37
Cut to the heart and ask what shall we do?
2. What was Peter’s answer to that question? 2:38
Repent ye, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ unto the remission of your sins;
and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.
3. How is salvation possible for all people? 2:39
For to you is the promise, and to your children, and to all that are afar off,
(even) as many as the Lord our God shall call unto him.
4. Besides God’s help what was also essential for one’s own salvation? 2:40
And with many other words he testified, and exhorted them, saying,
Save yourselves from this crooked generation.
5. What are things those wish to be saved must do for their own salvation? 2:41
They that received his word were baptized:
and there were added (unto them) in that day about three thousand souls.
6. After baptism what did the saved do? 2:42
And they continued steadfastly in the apostles' teaching and fellowship, in the breaking of bread and the prayers.
7. How was the Lord’s work being supported at this particular time? 2:43-46
8. Where did the Lord added the saved people? 2:47
