About those religious dos and don'ts!
I have five little English words for it-->
I don't give a dime! You may say I mean they do not worth a dime!
A. To believers of Jesus these are the dos and don'ts!
1. 1 Cor.5:11-->
But now I am writing you that you must not associate with anyone who calls himself
a brother but is sexually immoral or greedy, an idolater or a slanderer, a drunkard or a swindler.
With such a man do not even eat.
2. Ro.14:3-->
The man who eats everything must not look down on him who does not,
and the man who does not eat everything must not condemn the man who does, for God has accepted him.
3. 1 Cor.7:10-11-->
To the married I give this command (not I, but the Lord): A wife must not separate from her husband.
But if she does, she must remain unmarried or else be reconciled to her husband.
And a husband must not divorce his wife.
4. Eph.5:3-->
But among you there must not be even a hint of sexual immorality,
or of any kind of impurity, or of greed, because these are improper for God's holy people.
5. Eph. 5:11-->
Have nothing to do with the fruitless deeds of darkness, but rather expose them.
6. Titus 3:10 Warn a denomination person once, and then warn him a second time.
After that, have nothing to do with him.
7. 2 Pet.1:5-8-->
For this very reason, make every effort to add to your faith courage; and to courage,
knowledge; and to knowledge, self-control; and to self-control, perseverance;
and to perseverance, odliness; and to godliness, brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness, love.
8. 2 Tim. 2:22--> Flee the evil desires of youth, and pursue righteousness, faith, love and peace,
along with those who call on the Lord out of a pure heart.
9. I dare to say, if Jesus’ believers busy practicing these dos and don’ts,
this sermon is not needed!
B. We have clear instructions in the Bible on what to do with religious dos and don’ts!
1. Gal.4:8-11-->
Formerly, when you did not know God, you were slaves to those who by nature are not gods.
But now that you know God or rather are known by God,
how is it that you are turning back to those weak and miserable principles?
Do you wish to be enslaved by them all over again?
You are observing special days and months and seasons and years!
I fear for you, that somehow I have wasted my efforts on you.
2. Col.2:16-23-->
Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of a feast day or a new moon or a Sabbath day:
which are a shadow of the things to come; but the body is Christ's.
Let no man rob you of your prize by a voluntary humility and worshipping of the angels,
dwelling in the things which he hath seen, vainly puffed up by his fleshly mind,
and not holding fast the Head, from whom all the body,
being supplied and knit together through the joints and bands, increasing with the increase of God.
If ye died with Christ from the rudiments of the world,
why, as though living in the world, do ye subject yourselves to ordinances, handle not,
nor taste, nor touch (all which things are to perish with the using),
after the precepts and doctrines of men?
Which things have indeed a show of wisdom in will-worship, and humility, and severity to the body;
(but are) not of any value against the indulgence of the flesh.
3. If your compromise to religious dos and don’ts is because their friendship,
read James 4:4-->
You adulterous people, don't you know that friendship with the world is hatred toward God?
***Anyone who chooses to be a friend of the world becomes an enemy of God.
C. Conclusion: 1. Col.2:8-->
See to it that no one takes you captive through hollow and deceptive philosophy,
which depends on human tradition and the basic principles of this world rather than on Christ.
2. Religious people do not care what says in the Bible!
I do not give a dime to their dos and don’ts!
3. When religious people obey what says in the Bible! I do not have to preach this sermon!
4. Either way, we win. Thank God, praise the Lord, may all the glory be to the Lord!
5. Romans 12:15 Rejoice with those who rejoice; mourn with those who mourn.
My dear brethren you may make your choice. As for me,
I rejoice with those who rejoice; mourn with those who mourn. Ro.12:15
May God bless you and keep you always! Preach this one on March 25, 2012.
