What to do if you have only one mistake?

What to do if you have only one mistake?A. Scriptures for this study: Acts  18:24-19:51. Apollos, a Jew, an eloquent man, mighty in the scriptures preaching in Ephesus. Acts 18:242. He was instructed in the way of the Lord; being fervent in the spirit, he taught diligently the things*** of the Lord, knowing only the baptism of John. Acts 18:253. He began to speak boldly in the synagogue. Aquila and Priscilla had heard.    They took him to them, and expounded to him the way of God more perfectly. Acts 18:264. When he was disposed to pass into Achaia, the brethren wrote, exhorting the disciples to receive  him: who, when he was come, helped them much which had believed through grace: For he    mightily convinced the Jews, … showing by the scriptures that Jesus was Christ. Acts 18:27-285. While Apollos was at Corinth, Paul having passed through the upper coasts came to Ephesus;     and finding certain disciples. Acts 19:1 6. He said unto them, Have ye received the Holy Ghost since ye believed? And they said unto him,       We have not so much as heard whether there be any Holy Ghost. Acts 19:27. He said unto them, Unto what then were ye baptized? And they said, Unto John's baptism. 19:38. Then said Paul, John verily baptized with the baptism of repentance, saying unto the people, that    they should believe on him which should come after him, that is, on Christ Jesus. Acts:19:49. When they heard this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus. Acts 19:5B. Lessons we must learn!1. Apollos was eloquent, knowing the scriptures thoroughly, fervent in spirit, diligent in preaching!  I say, Apollos was a perfect preacher in the church of Christ any time!2. This is Apollos’ one mistake--> He knows only the baptism of John!   The problem is he was in the time of Jesus is Lord!    Here are differences between Jesus’ baptism and John’s baptism:   a. Both baptism is for forgiveness of sins. Mk.1:4, Acts 2:38   b. They both baptized into water. Matt.3:6, Acts 8:38   c. John’s baptism is not in the name of Jesus. Jesus’ baptism is in the name of Jesus Christ, Ac.2:383. Apollos was preaching boldly! Acts 18:26   With mistake, people can still preach boldly! At least at the time of not knowing the mistake!4. Acquila and Priscilla heard his preaching.  Learned about his mistake iin preaching!   This couple was Paul’s mission team knowing first hand about baptism from Paul!5. They took him to them, and expounded to him the way of God more perfectly. Acts 18:266. By the writing letter request brethren in Achaia to receive him and let him preach there, we know    Apollos was humble enough to repent and made the correction!7. Apostle Paul came to Ephesus, learned about the problem,    He asked the people in the church at Ephesus:   Have you received the Holy Spirit since you believed? They said: No.8. From Acts 2L38 we know at the time when people were baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for    the forgiveness of their sins, they also receive the gift of the Holy Spirit!9. Then Paul asked: Unto what were you baptized? They said: Unto John’s baptism!  Then Paul told them should believe on him which should come after him, that is, on Christ Jesus.10. When they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus. Acts 19:511. The people in the church at Ephesus were taught and baptized by Apollos!      Apollos knew only John’s baptism. Naturally he baptized them with the baptism of John!C. Make no mistake about this! There is one Lord, one faith and one baptism! Eph.4:41. Paul wrote these words to the church at Ephesus with this important purpose--> to make sure the  brethren there not be confused by Jesus’ baptism and John’s baptism!   There is one Lord, one faith and one baptism! That is The Lord Jesus’ baptism!2. This is the Lord Jesus’ baptism: Believe, repent, be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the    forgiveness of sins and receive the gift of the Holy Spirit!Ac.2:36-38 May the God bless you always!
