WRONG SALVATION PLAN BY NOT RECOGNIZING CONCLUSIVE STATEMENT FOLLOWED BY EXPLAINATIONS.
The most common wrong salvation plan in the world today(1996)is: Saying: One is saved when he receives Jesus into his heart to be his personal Savior before water baptism!
One of the most quoted scriptures to support this view is Acts 16:30-31.
Acts 16:30-31 says--He then brought them out and asked,
"Sirs, what must I do to be saved?"
They replied,"Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved-- you and your household."
The answer in verse 31 to the question in verse 30 is simple and clear!
Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved, you and your family.
When people failed to read on for the explaination given by Paul, they get all you do is believe in the Lord Jesus and you will be saved!
Then they preach a salvation plan before and without water baptism!
When one did that, he will have to figure out a way to explain away
Mark 16:16, John 3:3-5, Acts 2:38, Acts 22:16.
When one did that, he is putting himself in conflict with Jesus, Peter and Paul.
And he becomes one of those evildoers in Matthew 7:21-23!
If you will just read on up to verse 34, then you will know, when the whole event is read, you have the same items for salvation as Peter said in Acts 2:36-38! You have all the steps which Paul says in Acts 22:3-16!
1. What must I do to be saved?(Acts 16:30)
2. Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved.(Acts 16:31)
3. Then they spoke the word of the Lord to him and to all the others in the house.(Acts 16:32)
4. At that hour of the night the jailer took them and washed their wounds; then immediately he and all his family were baptized.(Acts 16:33)
5. The jailer brought them into his house and set a meal before them; he was filled with joy because he had come to believe in God-- he and his whole family.(Acts 16:34)
The whole event concerning the salvation of the Philippian Jailer and his whole family includes listening to the preaching of the word of the Lord, believing in Jesus, repent and be baptized. It was after baptism that the whole family was filled with joy!
(We must also remember Acts 16:34 is a conclusive statement of the whole event at the end. Please don't take it out of context!)
CAUTIONS TO THOSE WHO PREACH:
1. "Watch your life and teaching closely.
Persevere in them, because if you do, you will save both
yourself and your hearers.(1 Tim.4:16)
2. Even if we or an angel from heaven should preach a gospel other than the one we preached to you, let him be eternally condemned.(Gal.1:8)
