How did they evangelized their world?
A. We need people to have this kind of heart! 1 Cor.9:16-17
For if I preach the gospel, I have nothing to glory of; for necessity is laid upon me;
for woe is unto me, if I preach not the gospel.
For if I do this of mine own will, I have a reward: but if not of mine own will, I have a stewardship entrusted to me.
B. We need people to have this kind of determination! Acts 5:28
We gave you strict orders not to teach in this name.
Yet you have filled Jerusalem with your teaching and are determined to make us guilty of this man's blood.
C. We need to have this kind of brothers and sisters! Acts 17:11-12
Now the Bereans were of more noble character than the Thessalonians, for they received the message with great eagerness
and examined the Scriptures every day to see if what Paul said was true.
Many of the Jews believed, as did also a number of prominent Greek women and many Greek men.
D. Then we will have this kind of activities!
1. Acts 5:42 --> Day after day, in the temple courts and from house to house, they never stopped teaching
and proclaiming the good news that Jesus is the Christ.
2. Acts 15:35-36--> But Paul and Barnabas remained in Antioch,
where they and many others taught and preached the word of the Lord.
Sometime later Paul said to Barnabas, "Let us go back and visit the brothers in all the towns
where we preached the word of the Lord and see how they are doing."
3. Acts 16:13--> On the Sabbath we went outside the city gate to the river, where we expected to find a place of prayer.
We sat down and began to speak to the women who had gathered there.
4. Acts 16-18--> While Paul was waiting for them in Athens, he was greatly distressed to see that the city was full of idols.
So he reasoned in the synagogue with the Jews and the God-fearing Greeks,
as well as in the marketplace day by day with those who happened to be there.
A group of Epicurean and Stoic philosophers began to dispute with him.
Some of them asked, "What is this babbler trying to say?"
Others remarked, "He seems to be advocating foreign gods."
They said this because Paul was preaching the good news about Jesus and the resurrection.
5. Acts 20:20--> You know that I have not hesitated to preach anything that would be helpful to you but have taught you
publicly and from house to house.
6. Acts 19:8-10--> Paul entered the synagogue and spoke boldly there for three months, arguing persuasively about the kingdom of God.
But some of them became obstinate; they refused to believe and publicly maligned the Way.
So Paul left them. He took the disciples with him and had discussions daily in the lecture hall of Tyrannus.
But when some were hardened and disobedient, speaking evil of the Way before the multitude,
he departed from them, and separated the disciples, reasoning daily in the school of Tyrannus.
And this continued by the space of two years; so that all they which dwelt in Asia heard the word of the Lord Jesus, both Jews and Greeks.
E. Then these will happen!
1. 1 Cor. 3:6--> I planted, Apollos watered; but God gave the increase.
2. Acts 19:19-20--> And not a few of them that practiced magical arts brought their books together and burned them in the sight of all;
and they counted the price of them, and found it fifty thousand pieces of silver.
In this way the word of the Lord spread widely and grew in power.
3. Titus 2:7-8--> In everything set them an example by doing what is good.
In your teaching show integrity, seriousness and soundness of speech that cannot be condemned,
so that those who oppose you may be ashamed because they have nothing bad to say about us.
F. If a church have people do this--> 1 Tim. 5:13
Besides, they get into the habit of being idle and going about from house to house.
And not only do they become idlers, but also gossips and busybodies, saying things they ought not to.
May God have mercy on us! Preach this on September 15, 2013.
