"Everything is permissible for me"-- but I will not be mastered by anything. A. “Everything is permissible for me"-- but not everything is beneficial. 1. Please come up some real life examples on things we may do which is beneficial. Who and how may be benefited? 2. Come up some real life examples on things we may do that which is not beneficial. Not beneficial to whom and how? B. "Everything is permissible for me"-- but I will not be mastered by anything. 1. How can we become not be mastered by anything? 2. What are the benefits for being not be mastered by anything? 3. Why is this important in our walk of faith? C. How to reconcile the followings: 1. “I will not be mastered by anything” with loving God means doing his commands? 1 John 5:3 2. “I will not be mastered by anything” with believe Jesus is Lord and Christ? Acts 2:36 3. “I will not be mastered by anything” with become slaves to righteousness? Romans 6:18 4. “I will not be mastered by anything”, I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live?Gal.2:20 5. “I will not be mastered by anything”, the world has been crucified to me and I to the world?Gal.6:14 D. Conclusion:1. Ac 2:40-42 With many other words he warned them; and he pleaded with them, "Save yourselves from this corrupt generation." Those who accepted his message were baptized, and about three thousand were added to their number that day. They devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching and to the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer. 2. Acts 5:3-4 Then Peter said, "Ananias, how is it that Satan has so filled your heart that you have lied to the Holy Spirit and have kept for yourself some of the money you received for the land? Didn't it belong to you before it was sold? And after it was sold, wasn't the money at your disposal? What made you think of doing such a thing? You have not lied to men but to God." 3. 2 Cor. 9:7 Each man should give what he has decided in his heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. May the Lord bless you and keep you always!
