Subject: Worship of the church.

1. There are 5 kinds of worship in the New Testament Bible.

    a. Worship in vain. Matt.15:9--> They worship me in vain; their teachings are but rules taught by men.

    b. Ignorant worship.

        Acts 17:23--> For as I walked around and looked carefully at your objects of worship, I even found an altar with this inscription: TO AN UNKNOWN GOD.

        Now what you worship as something unknown I am going to proclaim to you.

   c. Will-worship--> Col 2:23

       Such regulations indeed have an appearance of wisdom, with their self-imposed worship, their false humility and their harsh treatment of the body,

       but they lack any value in restraining sensual indulgence.

   d. Mock-worship--> Mk 15:19-20-->

       And they smote his head with a reed, and spat upon him, and bowing their knees worshipped him.

       And when they had mocked him, they took off from him the purple, and put on him his garments. And they lead him out to crucify him.

    e. True worship. John 4:24--> God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in spirit and in truth.

2. On what day of the week do Christians worship?

    Acts 2:1-42, 20:7, 1 Cor.16:2

3. Why worship on this day?

    Mk 16:9 When Jesus rose early on the first day of the week, he appeared first to Mary Magdalene, out of whom he had driven seven demons.

    Jn 20:19 On the evening of that first day of the week, when the disciples were together, with the doors locked for fear of the Jews, Jesus came and stood among them and said, "Peace be with you!"

4. Christians are commanded not to do what about worship? Heb.10:25

5. What are Christians taught to do in worship?

    Acts 2:42,20:7, 1 Cor.11:23-29, Phil.4:15-19, Heb.13:15.

6. Where shall the place for true worship to the Lord be?  Acts 5:12

    The apostles performed many miraculous signs and wonders among the people.

    And all the believers used to meet together in Solomon's Colonnade.

    1 Cor.16:19 The churches in the province of Asia send you greetings.

    Aquila and Priscilla greet you warmly in the Lord, and so does the church that meets at their house.

    Acts 18:7 Then Paul left the synagogue and went next door to the house of Titius Justus,    a worshiper of God.

7. What did Peter say when Cornelius tried to worship him?    Acts 10:25-26

8. To whom shall Christians worship?

    Matt.4:10 Jesus said to him: Away from me, Satan! For it is written: Worship the Lord your God,   and serve him only.

    Re 14:7 He said in a loud voice, "Fear God and give him glory, because the hour of his judgment has come.

    Worship him who made the heavens, the earth, the sea and the springs of water."

   Jn 4:23 Yet a time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks.

  May the Lord bless you and keep you always!
