Recognize true Jesus’ believers!
A. True Jesus’ believers abide in Jesus’ word!
1. Scriptures: Jesus said to the Jews who having believed him.
If you abide in my word, you are truly my disciples.
You will know the truth and the truth will set you free.
2. True Jesus disciples are true Jesus’ believers.
Therefore, true Jesus’ believers abide in Jesus’ word.
40 years ago came to N.Y.C.
I found people believe Jesus with their mouth, but they do not do what Jesus said!
Therefore, I wrote a gospel track with this titleà can you believe Jesus and not do what he said?
Even non-believers say, when you say you believe Jesus you ought to do what he said!
At the time I came to New York from Texas by way of South Carolina.
I was very naïve! I asked everyone on the street: Do you believe Jesus?
80% of the people said they believe Jesus!
The 1st Sunday morning, I saw a man washing his car.
I asked: Is today Sunday? He said: Yes!I said, why are you washing car?
Are you not preparing to go to church to worship God?
He said: No, I do not go to church to worship God!
Does the Holy Spirit inspired man to write down: Thou shall not forsake assembly? Heb.10:25
Why believe Jesus and not do what he said?
According to what I know this has been a norm in the world today!
Therefore, it is easy to recognize Jesus believers!
All you need is see whether they attend church worship to God on Sunday!
As for now, my conclusion is this à
do not attend worship to God on Sunday in a church of Christ is not a true Jesus believer!
B. True Jesus believers know the truth in the Bible. John 8:31-32 约翰福音8:31-32节
1. Jesus said: If you abide in my word, you are truly my disciples. You will know the truth…
2. We know, true Jesus believers, abide in Jesus’ word and know the truth in the Bible are closely connected together and work together!
3. Not true Jesus believer, not abide in Jesus’ word, cannot know the truth in the Bible in a life time!
People in Europe are a good example!
1500 years has gone by, they still cannot know the truth in the Bible!
Now I can say this with great confidence!
If you like to know why, you may come back this afternoon!
I treat you a lunch, then explain to you. I am sure you will understand!
4. God designed it this way!
Man may know more and more by way of doing what says in the Bible!
All you need is read 2 Peter 1:5-11 and pay attention to these two words increasing measure!
5. True Jesus believer would be like the Beareans Christians love to receive the truth in the Bible!
They search the truth in the Bible day by day! Acts 17:11
C. The truth will set you free. John 8:32 约翰福音8:32节
1. This is Jesus promise! If you abide in my truth, you will know the truth and the truth will set you free!
2. These words enhance each other in sequence orderly not one can be missed!
3. Being set free from the control of sins is everything about believe Jesus!
This is the aim of Jesus coming to earth!4. Set free is being freed from the control of sins!
5. The more people abide in Jesus’ word the more they will know the truth,
the more they are able to exercise self-control not to commit sins!
D. True Jesus believers are slave to righteousness, not slave to sins.
1. Our old self has nailed to the cross with the Lord, the body of sin is dead, we no longer slave to sins! Romans 6:6 罗马书6:6
2. You have been set free from sin and have become slaves to righteousness. Romans 6:18 罗马书6:18
3. In this the children of God are manifest, and the children of the devil:
whoever does not righteousness is not of God, neither he that loveth not his brother.
4. Therefore, true Jesus believer cannot say: I have bad habit, I tried to quit but failed!
Everything is permissible for me-- but not everything is beneficial. Everything is permissible for me –
but I will not be mastered by anything. 1 Cor.6:12 哥林多前书6:12节
Such as fornication, adultery, drunkenness, smoke, gamble, foul language, greed…
True Jesus believers can’t say they can’t quit!I can do all things through the one who strengthen me! Phil.4:13
Therefore, true Jesus believers do not have bad habit in life!
Habitual lateness is a very bad habit!Right on time is a very good habit! (I use the word very!)
