What is in the name? Phil.2:8-10
I have to say, there is not much in my name!
But you must know there is much in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ!
Everyone in this world must know this!
Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to men by which we must be saved." Acts 4:12
A. This name comes with great price!
1. He humbled himself and became obedient to death, death on the cross. Phil.2:8
2. This name is above every name and was given by God! Phil.2:9
3. At the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth. Phil.2:10
Remember we learned last Sunday?
When you see a church that has a name church of Christ, you must give face and show utmost respect?
Failed to give face to this name can be fatal eternally!
4. I cannot imagine why those Italian believers forsake the name church of Christ and replaced it with Roman Catholic Church!
5. They exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and worshipped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed for ever.
Because of this, God gave them over to shameful lusts. Ro.1:15-26
This is why physically, it had flourished greatly and being preserved for the great day of judgment!
6. I have to say, the Italians were smarter than the Indians.
The Italians exchanged their worship to God for the worship of a man called Pope!
The Indians created all kinds of idols to worship! They even worship cow and reptiles!
B. This name was given by God and announced by angels!
1. Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men,
whereby we must be saved. Acts 4:12
2. She will give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus, because he will save his people from their sins. Matt.1:21
3. Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved. Ro.10:13, Acts 2:21
4. How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in?
And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard?
And how can they hear without someone preaching to them? Ro.10:14
5. And how can they preach unless they are sent?
As it is written, "How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!"Ro.10:15
6. But not all the Israelites accepted the gospel. For Isaiah says, "Lord, who has believed our message?"
Consequently, faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the word of Christ. Ro.10:16-17
C. This name is to be respected even after dead of the body!
1. This is why people devote their lives to preach in this name!
If preaching is for things in this world, I have to say, not worthy to do it!
2. The Lord commanded us to preach to the people and to testify that he is the one whom God appointed
as judge of the living and the dead. Acts 10:42
3. In the presence of God and of Christ Jesus, who will judge the living and the dead, and in view of his appearing and his kingdom,
I give you this charge: Preach the Word; be prepared in season and out of season; correct, rebuke and encourage--
with great patience and careful instruction. 2 Tim.4:1-2
4. They think it strange that you do not plunge with them into the same flood of dissipation, and they heap abuse on you.
But they will have to give account to him who is ready to judge the living and the dead. 1 Peter 4:4-5
D. This is how people can be saved in the name of the Lord!
1. Peter replied, "Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins.
And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. Acts 2:38
2. And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus,
giving thanks to God the Father through him. Col.3:17
