The seed is the word of God.

The seed is the word of God. Luke 8:5-15

A. A farmer went out to sow his seed; and as he sowed:

1. Some fell by the way side; and it was trodden down, and the fouls of the air devoured it. Lk.8:5

2. Some fell upon a rock; and as soon as it was sprung up, it withered away, because it lacked moisture.

3. And some fell among thorns; and the thorns sprang up with it, and choked it.  Lk.8:7

4. And other fell on good ground, and sprang up, and bare fruit an hundredfold. And when he had said these things,  

    he spoke with a loud voice, he that has ears to hear, let him hear. Luke 8:8

B. Jesus declare this mysteries of the kingdom of God is given to his disciples not to others! Lk.8:9-10

1. His disciples asked him: What might this parable be? Luke 8:9

2. The disciples came to him and asked: Why do you speak to the people in parables? Matt.13:10

3. He replied: The knowledge of the secrets of the kingdom of heaven has been given to you, not to them.

4. Jesus said: Unto you it is given to know the mysteries of the kingdom of God; but to others in parables,

  that seeing they might not see, and hearing they might not understand. Luke 8:10

C. Jesus explain the meaning of the seed sowing parable! Luke 8:12-15

1. Those by the way side are they that hear; then comes the devil, and takes away the word out of their

    hearts, lest they should believe and be saved. Luke 8:12

2. They on the rock are they, which, when they hear, receive the word with joy; and these have no root,

    which for a while believe, and in time of temptation fall away. Luke 8:13

3. And that which fell among thorns are they, which, when they have heard, go forth, and are choked

    with cares and riches and pleasures of this life, and bring no fruit to perfection. Luke 8:14

4. But that on the good ground are they, which in an honest and good heart, having heard the word,

    keep it, and bring forth fruit with patience. Luke 8:15

D. ‘The seed is the word of God’ is the knowledge of the secrets of the kingdom of heaven! Luke 8:11

    The secrets of the kingdom of heaven have been given only to those in the church of Christ Matt.13:11.

1. Paul and Barnabas remained in Antioch, where they and many others taught and preached the word of the Lord.  Acts 15:35

2. With many other words he warned them; and he pleaded with them, "Save yourselves from this corrupt generation."

    Those who accepted his message were baptized, and about three thousand were added to the church that day.

    They devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching and to the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer. Acts 2:40-42

    a. How did these people saved themselves?

    b. Accepted his message--> the seed--> the word of God--> They were baptized.

    c. They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to the fellowship…

3. A family was filled with joy because of believing in God. Acts 16:30-34

    a. Ac 16:30 He then brought them out and asked, "Sirs, what must I do to be saved?

    b. Ac 16:31 They replied: Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved--  you and your household.

    c. Ac 16:32 Then they spoke the word of the Lord to him and to all the others in his house.

    d. Ac 16:33 At that hour of the night the jailer took them and washed their wounds;

         then immediately he and all his family were baptized.

    e. Ac 16:34 The jailer brought them into his house and set a meal before them; he was filled with joy

         because he had come to believe in God-- he and his whole family.

E. How this family was filled with joy?

1. Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which lives and abide forever. 1 Peter 1:23

2. Being saved and added into the kingdom of God, the church of Christ by the Lord himself. Acts 2:47

    Praising God, and having favor with all the people.

3. Therefore, get rid of all moral filth and the evil that is so prevalent and humbly accept the word

    planted in you, which can save your souls. James 1;21

4. I planted the seed, Apollos watered it, but God made it grows. 1 Cor.3:6

5. This is the secrets of the knowledge of the kingdom of God!
