God made it possible for us!
November 16, 2014 in my preaching, I said: We can be as perfect as the heavenly Father is perfect!
Yes, we must believe that we can! Because Jesus said:
Be ye perfect as the heavenly Father is perfect! Matthew 5:48
Today, we will see
, it is God who make sure that we can be as perfect as the Father is perfect!
A. English translations of Matt.5:48
1. Be perfect, therefore, as your heavenly Father is perfect. NIV
2. Ye therefore shall be perfect, as your heavenly Father is perfect. ASV
3. Be therefore ye perfect as the Father of you heavenly perfect is. Word for Word Bible.
4. From word for word translation, we know the ASV added the word shall!
The ASV translators at time of translation aware of the meaning of this verse
and thought it means at the time when people get into heaven, then they shall be perfect as the Father is perfect!
B. This is how! Romans 4:6-8
1. Even as David also described the blessedness of the man, unto whom God impute righteousness without works, Ro.4:6
(Please remember works in this verse is about the works perform in doing what Old Testament Law says.)
2. Saying, Blessed are they whose iniquities are forgiven, and whose sins are covered. Ro.4:7
3. Blessed is the man to whom the Lord will not impute sin. Ro.4:8
C. This is why Jesus said: Be ye perfect as the Father of you in heaven is perfect!
1. It is to make sure human must forever submit themselves to do what says in the New Testament Bible!
2. In another word, human must find a way to do what God says in the New Testament Bible!
3. As long as they do not do this, they will continue to suffer on earth and then spend eternity in hell!
4. All human in the world are convinced of this--> No one is perfect! No one can ever be perfect!
When human realized this then they will come to God! Or until they come to God!
D. Why do you think Jesus came to earth?
1. In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. Jn.1:1
2. And the Word became flesh, and dwelt among us (and we beheld his glory, glory as of the only
begotten from the Father), full of grace and truth. John 1:14
3. Why do you think Jesus has to suffer all these things? Matt.16:21
From that time on Jesus began to explain to his disciples that he must go to Jerusalem and suffer many things at the hands of the elders,
chief priests and teachers of the law, and that he must be killed and on the third day be raised to life.
4. And I tell you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of Hades will not overcome it. Matt.16:18
5. I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven; whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven,
and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven. Matt.16:19
6. What a wretched man I am! Who will rescue me from this body of death? Thanks be to God—
through Jesus Christ our Lord! Ro.7:24-25
7. Yea verily, and I count all things to be loss for the excellence of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord:
for whom I suffered the loss of all things, and do count them but refuse, that I may gain Christ,
and be found in him, not having a righteousness of mine own, that which is of the law,
but that which is through faith in Christ, the righteousness which is from God by faith: Phil.3:8-9
8. We proclaim him, admonishing and teaching everyone with all wisdom, so that we may present everyone perfect in Christ. Col.1:28
E. Conclusion: If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse 1 John 1:9
us from all unrighteousness. 1 John 1:9
May the Lord bless you and keep you always! Preach on November 23, 2014.
