Friday Bible Study. January 9, 2015
Subject: It is a matter of who is in control!
1. 1 Cor.6:12--> Everything is permissible for me-- but not everything is beneficial.
Everything is permissible for me" but I will not be mastered by anything.
2. Gal 6:7 Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man sows, that shall he also reap.
Gal 6:8 For he that sows to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption;
but he that sows to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting.
3. Gal 6:9 And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not. (KJV)
4. Ro.7:5 For when we were in the flesh, the sinful passions (desire that leads to sin), which were
through the law, wrought in our members to bring forth fruit unto death. (ASV)
5. This is why Paul wrote this--> Ro.13:14 But put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ,
and make not provision for the flesh, to fulfill the lusts thereof. (KJV)
Remember: From 1 Thes.5:23 we know each person has flesh and soul and spirit.
1. Ro.7:15 For that which I do I allow not: for what I would, that do I not; but what I hate, that do I.
(The I in this verse can be the soul or the flesh.)
2. Ro 7:16 If then I do that which I would not, I consent unto the law that it is good. (KJV)
3. Ro 7:17 Now then it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwells in me.
4. Ro 7:18 For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh,) dwells no good thing:
for to will is present with me; but how to perform that which is good I find not. (KJV)
Ro 7:19 For the good that I would I do not: but the evil which I would not, that I do. (KJV)
Ro 7:20 Now if I do that I would not, it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwells in me. (KJV)
Ro 7:21 I find then a law, that, when I would do good, evil is present with me. (KJV)
5 Ro 7:22 For I delight in the law of God after the inward man: (KJV)
(I can be the soul, the inward man can be the spirit.)
6. Ro 7:23 But I see another law in my members, warring against the law of my mind, and bringing me
into captivity to the law of sin which is in my members. (KJV)
7. From 1 Pet 2:11 Dear friends, I urge you, as aliens and strangers in the world, to abstain from lusts
of the flesh, which war against your soul.
(We know law in my members is lusts of the flesh, the law of my mind is the soul.)
(The me in Ro.7:23 is the soul. Lust of the flesh bringing the soul into captivity.)
8. Look like the spirit that was required for the flesh to live as a live person is inactive!
James 2:26 For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also. (KJV)
As we can see, the spirit only stand by, not helping in war with the lust of the flesh!
The spirit watch the soul being brought into captivity by the lust of the flesh!
9. Ro 7:24 O wretched man that I am! who shall deliver me from the body of this death? (KJV)
Again, in 7:24 the soul is in captivity yarning for delivery from deah!
10. Ro 7:25 I thank God through Jesus Christ our Lord. So then with the mind I myself serve the law
of God; but with the flesh the law of sin.
11. Ro 8:9 But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you.
Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his.
12. The Spirit is the truth. 1 John 5:7
